The exhibition, which over the last four months has achieved great reviews and general success with the public, including the young adults, and its catalogue, which was curated by the leading scholars of the movement, Professors Fabio Benzi, Francesco Leone and Fernando Mazzocca, aims to analyse, through a new perspective, both the cultural and figurative premises, the roots, different souls and many themes that contributed firstly to the birth, and then to the deflagration and full configuration of Futurism, which had so turbulently characterised the research of Western art, in the first half of the 20th century.

The curators have carefully selected the works in the exhibition, which is divided into seven sections: The Symbolic Roots of Futurism, Divisionism, Spiritualism, Dynamism, Modern Life, Simultaneity and Futurist Reconstruction.

In the third section entitled  ‘Spiritualism’, in which works by Giacomo Balla, Umberto Boccioni, Julius Evola, Jules Schmalzigaug and Luigi Russolo were exhibited, Arnaldo Ginna’s 1913 oil on canvas: ‘The Music of Dance’ was requested.

As Manuel Barrese recalls in the introduction to the section on ‘Spiritualism’ Ginna, with ‘La musica della danza’ for the first time on exhibit at the International Futurist Exhibition at the Sprovieri Gallery in 1914, thanks to his strong interest in parapsychology and occultism …… he initiated ‘abstract’ pictorial experiments centred on musical metaphors and the externalisation of mental states of the mind.
